DIY: Blog!

After feeling a little cramped for creativity on my family blog (though blogging about my son is always fun!), Mint Chevron was born. Entering the blog-o-sphere has been a fun and creative adventure, here are the simple steps I took to get started:

I decided my goals: what did I want to accomplish with my blog?

Then I attended an on-line class hosted by Function (Alt Summit), a one-hour webinar called Blogging 101. From this, I learned some tips for starting a blog from the DIY blogging master, Liz Stanley. The class was one hour and totally worth the time and the $15 clams.

The most beneficial part of the class turned out to be the connection I made: she didn’t know it then (and come to think of it, she didn’t know it until now!) but as I was quietly watching the attendees post their contact info/sites – I saw one that caught my eye: www.sageandberries.com – I contacted her and she ended up designing my background and logos!

Joy helped me to get things onto my page and since then I’ve been messing with the CSS code (internet speak for behind the scenes blueprint) to get colors and fonts correct – then I started blogging! Ta-da!
